PRIVATE PROPERTY DRAINAGE SOLUTIONS
Description: Residents facing severe drainage problems will pay to share solutions, such as installing new drainpipes and a rain garden.
Location: The locations change each year based on the severity of the drainage problems.

DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
Description: This year's project includes four locations in town. Three involve ditch regrading and driveway culvert replacement to improve drainage, and one includes the addition of a storm sewer to alleviate street flooding.

DETENTION POND IMPROVEMENTS - KENSINGTON POND #2
Description: Dredge the Kensington Business Center Pond #2 bank to stabilize and improve the capacity and operation of the detention pond system.
Location: Kensington Business Center

MAIN STREET (IL 83) & BUSSE AVENUE
Description: A new crosswalk will be installed to enhance safety for pedestrians crossing Main St and Busse Ave.

NEW SIDEWALK PROGRAM
Description: Install new sidewalks where none currently exist to enhance pedestrian mobility.
Location: Wolf Road, north of Euclid Avenue and other locations.
Schedule: Complete plans and spec 6/2024. Complete construction 11/2024.
BRICK SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT
Description: Assess the brick sidewalk in various locations around Mount Prospect for areas of repair and replacement.

Schedule: Begin 6/2024 through 10/2024
STREET RESURFACING PROGRAM
Description: This program is responsible for a scheduled maintenance activity to preserve a high-quality, 136-mile road network with a 20-year life cycle to ensure safe travel. This program replaces damaged sidewalks, curbs, and structures associated with underground utilities in addition to resurfacing.

Schedule: Start Construction April 2024. Complete construction 12/2024.
BUSINESS CENTER DRIVE RESURFACING AND ROAD DIET
Description: The Village is considering reconfiguring Business Center Drive to include buffered bike lanes, one through lane in each direction, and a two-way left turn lane. This will be done without any widening of the roadway.
Location: Business Center Drive from Rand Road to Feehanville Drive, as well as Wheeling Road from Business Center Drive to Kensington Road

RAND / CENTRAL / MOUNT PROSPECT ROAD IMPROVEMENTS PHASE III CONSTRUCTION
Description: Construction to improve the triangle intersections experiences traffic issues by blocked intersections and poor vehicle progression.
Location: Rand / Central / Mount Prospect Road
Schedule: June 2024 through July 2024.
CENTRAL ROAD RESURFACING
Description: Resurface Central Road and construct an ADA-compliant sidewalk.
Location: Central Road from Westgate Road to Wolf Road
Schedule: Award contract 5/2024. Start Construction July 2024. Complete construction 12/2024.
SCHOENBECK ROAD STREET LIGHTING
Description: Installation of new street lights on Schoenbeck Road.
Location: Between Rand Road and Camp McDonald Road
Schedule: Begin November 2023 through June 2024
BURNING BUSH LANE STREET LIGHTING
Description: Installation of street lights along Burning Bush Lane between Euclid Avenue and Camp McDonald Road.
Location: Between Camp McDonald and Euclid
Schedule: Engineering design May 2024. Public bid construction fall 2024. Construction begins in October 2024 through April 2025.
RAND ROAD LIGHTING PROJECT
Description: Installation of street lights along Rand Road between Camp McDonald Road and Elmhurst Road (IL 83).
Location: Rand Road
Schedule: May 2024 through November 2025
EMERGENCY WATER SYSTEM INTERCONNECTION
Description: The Village of Mount Prospect is partnering with two regional water suppliers, Northwest Water Commission (NWC) and Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency (NSMJAWA), to construct an emergency interconnection to reduce the Village’s reliance on its backup groundwater wells.
Location: Elmhurst Avenue between Kensington Road and Highland Avenue. Village’s Pump Station No. 5 site at Highland Street and Emerson Street
Schedule: Fall 2023 – December 2024
WATER MAIN EXPANSION – OAKTON STREET
Description: This project will extend the Village-owned potable water distribution system to a 28-acre area abutting Oakton Street in south Mount Prospect. The area is presently zoned for commercial and industrial uses. Privately owned, shallow groundwater wells presently serve most properties.
Location: Oakton Street connects at Lexington, heading west to Badger Road and then north to Terminal Dr.
Schedule: Design Engineering begins February 2024, construction bid is let May 2024, and construction completed June 2024.
WATER MAIN LINING
Description: The lining process is completed by first cleaning and televising the existing water main. Then, the liner is inserted into the water main, and resin is used to cure it by circulating hot water or steam through the tube, which hardens the impermeable pipe. This CIPP project will include lining 1,728 LF of 16” water main. Ancillary work will include the replacement and installation of main line valves, one fire hydrant replacement, excavating liner access pits, and restoration of both paved and unpaved areas. Once the new main has been lined, it will be pressure tested and disinfected in accordance with AWWA standards.
Location: Mount Prospect Golf Course, from Busse Road to Booster Pump Station 11, which is on the golf course.
Schedule: November 2024 through December 2024.
WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS
Description: The project involves replacing 12,306 LF of water main with 8” ductile iron water main. It also includes 23 new valves in vaults, 38 new fire hydrants, 339 water service reconnections, 47 full lead service line replacements, abandonment of the existing 6” water main, and requisite surface restoration.

Schedule: April 2024 through October 2024.
SEWER MAIN LINING
Description: The contractor will install a cured-in-place pipe line into an existing sewer pipe to extend the life of the infrastructure. This method is trenchless, quicker, and safer than traditional open-cut sewer replacement methods.

FAIRVIEW GARDENS GRAVITY SEWER CONNECTION
Description: Install a gravity sewer outlet to eliminate the existing lift station and create a new connection to the MWRDGC Upper Des Plaines Intercepting Sewer 14A at an existing MWRDGC drop manhole.
Location: Northwest corner of Central Road and Wolf Road in Des Plaines.
Schedule: Construction begins March 2024 through May. Lift Station work is in June 2024 and restoration is complete by July 2024.
MAPLE / BERKSHIRE RELIEF STATION REHABILITATION
Description: Rehabilitation of the pumps, controllers, electrical and control wiring, concrete slab and hatch, and wet well and valve structure.
Location: Between 203 and 205 Berkshire Lane
Schedule: September 2024 through November 2024
RESERVOIR 5N AND 5E INSPECTION
Description: Conduct scheduled water tank evaluation and repairs to ensure the availability of INDR-required water storage capacity for the two 1-million-gallon water reservoirs located at Booster Pumping Station 5.
Location: 112 E Highland
Schedule: Inspection begins in March 2024 and is completed in April 2024.
RESERVOIR #4 REHABILITATION PROJECT
Description: Rehabilitation of the 880,000-gallon subgrade concrete water reservoir and booster pumping station 4. The village uses this reservoir during its daily water pumping activities.
Location: 117 N Waverly Place
Schedule: Construction begins June 2024 and ends October 2024.

ALGONQUIN ROAD BIKE PATH & LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS
Description: Aligning with the Bike Plan, this project will enhance pedestrian safety and promote walking and biking along Algonquin Road, an important corridor in our community.
Location: Algonquin Road
Schedule: Phase II Engineering June 2024 – December 2025. Land Acquisition October 2024 – December 2025. Construction 2026.
CENTRAL ROAD & WELLER LANE PEDESTRIAN CROSSING IMPROVEMENTS
Description: Upgrades to the existing crossing to match the recently constructed crosswalk at Central Road and Cathy Lane.
Location: Central Road east of Weller Lane
Schedule: Design 2024. Construction 2025
MELAS-MEADOWS PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE
Description: Phase II Engineering for a new pedestrian bridge connecting Melas Park and the subdivision on the adjacent side of the railroad tracks has been completed.
Location: Melas and Meadows
Schedule: Design 2024/2025 / Construction 2026
Description: Improve the intersections of Rand Road / IL 83 / Kensington Road with the second phase of the project, which includes additional engineering designs and land acquisition.

Engineering Studies
Description: Development of an engineering study to provide bank stabilization and channel improvement recommendations.
Location: Weller Creek from Elmhurst to Mount Prospect Road
Schedule: June 2024 through June 2025
Description: A planning study will be developed to determine preferred alternatives for bike infrastructure along arterial roads. IDOT Planning funds have been secured for a portion of the project.

Schedule: October 2023 through October 2024.
CENTRAL ROAD RAILROAD CROSSING STUDY
Description: Development of a Phase I Engineering Study to modernize the Central Road railroad crossing and surrounding road network.
Location: Central Road and Northwest Highway
Schedule: June 2024 through December 2025.
