The Village owns and maintains eight (8) sanitary relief stations and two (2) sewage lift stations. To date, eight (8) sewer pump stations have been rehabilitated as part of this ongoing program, including Lincoln Street, Cottonwood, Lincoln We-Go, William Street, both George Street North and South, Louis Street, and the Huntington Lift Station. The Maple Berkshire relief station, situated between 203 and 205 Berkshire Lane, is scheduled for rehabilitation. This facility services the area incorporating North of Berkshire Lane, East of Emerson St, South of Council Trail, and West of School Street. The attached map depicts the station’s location.
During rain events, relief stations pump wastewater into surcharge MWRDGC interceptors to prevent basement backups and sanitary sewer overflows in the Villages local collection system. The Maple Berkshire Relief Station Rehabilitation project includes the removal of the two existing pumps, floats, controllers, and electrical and control wiring. A new flat top precast slab and access hatch. Two new submersible pumps with rail systems allow maintenance crews to raise the motors and pumps for repairs. The interior of the wet well and the valve structures were cleaned and epoxy lined. Rehabilitation of the existing wet well and valve structure with an XYLEM TOP package system, replacement of sluice gate, operator, and floats in the sluice gate structure, reconnection of the relief sewer and force main and directional drill of new communication conduit and cable and installation of a new Xylem Multi-smart Station Control Panel that will be connected to the existing back-up emergency generator servicing the site.
