CS2 Residential and Small Commercial Program

MC Squared Energy Services LLC will be offering those on the reservation list a chance to subscribe to a Nexamp community solar project.

The Village of Mount Prospect partnered with the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus to launch the state's largest community solar program called the CS2 Residential and Small Commercial Program, which provides consumers easy and immediate access to community solar farms in northern Illinois.
This is not an electric aggregation program. Participation is voluntary and initiated by the utility account holder.

What is Community Solar?

A community solar project is a single site solar installation that is shared by multiple consumers (termed "subscribers"). Community Solar allows subscribers to receive their share of the electricity generated by their community solar installation (termed "net metering credits"). These net metering credits reduce the amount of electricity charged to the subscriber's account each month to yield cost savings. With community solar, subscribers can reduce their monthly electric bills with solar without installing solar panels on their house of business.

How does Community Solar Work?

Community solar projects generate electricity, and that power is delivered into the electric grid of the utility. The community solar project signs up subscribers and each subscriber receives monthly net metering credits based on the size of their subscription, how much the community solar project generates, and the subscriber's electricity supply arrangement. Each subscription is tried to a specific community solar project.

Benefits of Community Solar?

Starting in the Fall of 2023, Mount Prospect subscribers will receive 10% of net metering credits reported on their electricity bill.

Solar Community subscribers that joined the waitlist when the savings was at 20% will have an opportunity to subscribe to the community solar program at the 20% savings level.

Enrolled accounts at the 20% savings level will remain at the 20% savings subscription.

It is also an easy way to support clean energy generation in Illinois. In addition, you do not have to invest in solar rooftop panels, which may not be right for everyone.
