Prospect Meadows Subdivision / Glendale Ln
The Village of Mount Prospect is preparing to start construction on the final phase of the Prospect Meadows Drainage Improvements and ditch work along a section of Glendale Lane. The project will create a more effective roadway drainage system and eliminate areas of standing water in ditches. To do so, sections of the parkway ditch adjacent to the property will be regarded by a contractor to be hired by the Village.
In general, the project will include removing most existing driveway culverts and installing new driveway culvert pipes. The roadway ditches affected by construction activities will be regraded and restored with topsoil and grass. Driveway aprons that had culverts replaced will be restored in-kind with concrete or asphalt pavement. The project will also include installing tree protection fencing and tree trimming in spot locations.
Elm / Lonnquist
A combination of new storm sewer and ditch regrading is proposed for the 800 block of S. Elm Street and 300 Block of E. Lonnquist Boulevard. The project will create a more effective roadway drainage system, reducing areas of standing water in ditches. A storm sewer will be installed under the roadway ditch, and inlets will be placed on the storm sewer. The storm sewer will assist in the drainage of the surrounding area and reduce the standing water in the ditches.

Lancaster Av
The proposed storm sewer on the 1000 block of S. Lancaster Avenue will help to reduce street flooding that occurs mid-block during heavy rain events. The 2016 Beechwood-Grace Drainage Study identified several proposed storm sewer improvements in the Beechwood – Grace Area. The study proposes a 30” diameter storm sewer be installed from 1010 S. Lancaster Avenue to the existing storm sewer at Ash Drive. The existing 15” storm sewer will remain in place and will be connected to the new 30” storm sewer. The proposed storm sewer will be placed under the Lancaster Avenue pavement. New Inlets, catch basins, and manholes will be installed. After completion of the installation of the proposed storm sewer, this block of Lancaster Avenue will be resurfaced with new asphalt pavement. For more information on the resurfacing, see the project web page on the 2024 Street Resurfacing Program.
Construction Impact
There will be no activity that will require the road to be closed during construction at any of the locations. There will be no changes in regular services, such as garbage pick-up, mail delivery, or emergency services from the Police and Fire Departments. However, there may be times during the day when service vehicle access to residences will be interrupted. We will try to make these interruptions as short as possible. Mailboxes are not being replaced, and we will try to maintain access to them throughout the project.
