The emergency assistance program provides residents experiencing a hardship with limited financial assistance and food pantry services. Eligibility is determined based on a financial assessment with a department social worker. The emergency assistance program is funded through generous donations from individuals, local civic organizations, businesses, and churches.

Mount Prospect residents experiencing a financial hardship may apply for limited emergency financial assistance. The program assists residents with needs such as rental assistance, residential utility service, and emergency medication needs. Assistance may be provided for other needs on a case-by-case basis to stabilize a crisis. A financial assessment with a department social worker is required. To initiate a phone screening to determine eligibility for an assessment please contact Village Hall at 847-870-5680 or the Community Connections Center at 847-506-4930.

Documents required to determine eligibility:

• Proof of a crisis situation which has resulted in the need for financial assistance
• Proof of residency – a current lease or mortgage
• A valid ID for all adults in the household
• Birth Certificates for all children in the household
• Proof of all income for the last thirty days
• Copy of most recent bank statements for all household members
• Copies of most recent utility bills and other monthly expenses
• Copy of disconnection notice or five day notice if either has been issued
• Additional documents may be requested to determine eligibility

The Human Services Department serves as a Salvation Army Service Extension Unit for Mount Prospect residents. A financial assessment with a department social worker is required.

Individuals/Families Looking for Food Pantry Assistance
Help is available for individuals and families with children living in Mount Prospect who need assistance at any time during the year. A financial assessment is required once every six months. Residents who qualify are eligible to access the Food Pantry once a month. Residents must first contact the Human Services Department at 847/870-5680 to schedule a financial assessment appointment.

The Human Services Department operates a Food Pantry which is stocked through generous donations from individuals, civic organizations, local churches, schools and businesses. The Department accepts donations during Village Hall business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Simply bring donations to the Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St., 2nd Floor. If assistance is needed with unloading items, please contact 847/870-5680.
