Talk & Chalk on July 14th
This public event was held on the centennial green at Village Hall with the Village leadership team and members of the Village Board. Usually called ‘Coffee with Council,’ the Talk & Chalk was meant to be a more family friendly atmosphere. Around 30-40 people attended to explore a variety of village topics, including the future pocket park in the downtown area and the South Mount Prospect Sub-Area plan update. Attendees posted comment cards on a poster to express their suggestions and input regarding the south side. A hard copy survey was also provided to gather input.
Public Open House on July 24th
Around 25 people participated in the first open house, held at the Community Connections Center in South Mount Prospect. Interactive activities included a mapping activity to highlight opportunities and conflicts visually, a visioning exercise to share future vision ideas of the area, and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) Analysis. Posters highlighted what the village has collected so far regarding existing conditions. Surveys were also provided.
Mount Prospect Block Party on July 27/28th
The Village of Mount Prospect holds an annual summer block party located in the downtown, where residents can enjoy music, food, promotional offers from local businesses, and most of all, fun! The South Mount Prospect Sub-Area Plan booth solicited feedback via comment cards, surveys, and a brochure intended to provide the public with a general outlook of the plan and future community engagement events within the plan update. Valuable feedback was obtained in what the community wants for the future of South Mount Prospect.
Public Open House on September 13th
The 2nd open house, held at the Community Connections Center in South Mount Prospect, was a collection of various recommendations, key sites, and goals/objectives for the plan update. Celebration of Cultures on September 29th
The first annual Celebration of Cultures community event was held at Kopp Park, located behind the RecPlex in South Mount Prospect. This public event focused on celebrating different cultures within the Village through music, food, local business promotion, and a fun atmosphere.
