Workshop 1: Managerial Accounting

Small businesses usually have an outside accountant who helps them with taxes and other compliance issues. This class is concerned with how accounting helps students to understand and manage their business. It will cover budgeting, funds flow, margin analysis, and how to take action based on what these tools show. Students may bring suitably redacted copies of whatever financial statements they have so we can use these tools in real world analyses.

Wednesday, April 20, 2016
Workshop 2: Business Problem Solving

This workshop will make the student aware of systematic tools for defining and solving business problems. Using case studies and attendee supplied situations, students will be asked to use best practices developed in earlier sessions to begin to analyze problems within their business.

This class will stress how to decide what your expectations should be and how to really get something from your investment on the web. We’ll examine topics small businesses can use to promote themselves without breaking the bank. Topics will include Linkedin and using video on the web.
