Sèvres is a city of 23,000 residents located on the Seine River, southwest of Paris. There are many beautiful parks and forests in and around Sèvres.

Sèvres is well known for La Manufacture de Céramique, which continues to make porcelain using methods developed in the 18th Century and applying them to contemporary creations. Le Musée National de Céramique has in its collection every category of porcelain from all over the world.

Le Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) is also located in Sèvres. The task of the BIPM is to ensure world-wide uniformity of measurements and their traceability to the International System of Units (SI).

Sèvres has a rich cultural life with a new library and multi-media center, Conservatory of Music and Dance, and Sèvres Espace Loisirs (SEL) which offers art exhibits and programs in theater and film.
