Citizen Corps was created to help coordinate volunteer activities that will make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation. It provides opportunities for people to participate in a range of measures to make their families, their homes, and their communities safer from the threats of crime, terrorism, and disasters of all kinds.

In August of 2007, Mount Prospect and surrounding communities were hit with one of the worst storms in years. Roads were closed from fallen trees and down power lines, homes and businesses were without power for days. Were you ready?

The Fire Department is offering a free 20-hour disaster preparedness course that will help you, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a local disaster. This seven-week training course will begin Wednesday, October 8, and end on November 19. The classes will be held at Police & Fire Headquarters, 112 East Northwest Hwy. For further information contact, Jim Miller at the Fire Department, 818-5253.
