The Village of Mount Prospect is hosting the 9th Annual Winter Festival
Parade in downtown Mount Prospect on the evening of Saturday, December 6.
(Hopefully, the weather will cooperate this year!) The parade is one of Mount
Prospect’s favorite events. Participants will include organizations, youth
groups, merchants, churches and schools. Carolers will be stationed along the
parade route. Downtown holiday lights will be sparkling and store windows will
be decorated. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Even Santa, Mrs.
Claus and live reindeer will be on hand!
At 4:30 p.m., choral groups stationed along the parade route will get the crowd
in the holiday spirit. The parade will take place between 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. The
parade will start at the Maple Street Commuter parking lot, go west on Lincoln
Street, north on Emerson Street to Prospect Avenue and then west to Pine Street
- a relatively short route. The parade will be recorded for broadcast on MPTV
Channel 17. Following the parade, everyone will gather at the refreshment tent
at the corner of Prospect Ave. and Wille St. In the tent, free refreshments will
be served and Santa will greet children and pass out goodies.
- We are looking for participants for the parade activities (including
singing along the route) and parade units (walking, vehicles or floats).
Decorated floats are available. The cost of renting a decorated float is
$700 (including a generator, lights and signage).
- We are also seeking sponsors to help make the event possible. Last year,
sponsors provided funding for the toys that Santa passed out, Santa hats for
the choral groups, the rental cost for the live Reindeer, transportation for
the Prospect High School Band and more.
- In addition, we are hoping that local businesses and service
organizations will donate goodies for the refreshment tent. All refreshments
in the tent are free to parade-watchers. We are looking for warm drinks and
sweet treats to help make the event even more special (and volunteers to
help pass them out).

You will receive confirmation and detailed instructions for the parade
(including your lineup number) approximately two weeks before the parade.
