Winter Extravaganza - Dec. 5-7

The Winter Festival Parade steps off the evening of December 6 at 5:00 p.m. from Lions Park. The parade route will proceed down Lincoln Street to Emerson Street, Emerson Street to Prospect Avenue, west on Prospect Avenue, ending at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Pine Street. The parade will feature live reindeer, marching bands, floats and Santa and Mrs. Claus. A refreshment tent will be set up at Prospect Avenue and Wille Street and refreshments will be served after the parade including coffee, hot chocolate, cookies and more. Choral groups will be stationed along the parade route to add to the holiday spirit. For more information, go to www.mountprospect.org or call 392-6000.

TOY DONATIONS
The Mount Prospect Fire Department will be collecting toys for their "Toys for Kids" program. Firefighters will be collecting unwrapped new toys along the parade route and in the refreshment tent.

Toys can also be dropped off at any Mount Prospect Fire Station (112 East Northwest Highway, 1601 West Golf Road, or 2000 East Kensington Road). Donations will be accepted until December 11. The toys will be distributed on Saturday, December 20 by the Police, Fire, and Human Services departments. Donated gifts may range from the age of infant to teenager. Cash donations or used toys cannot be accepted.

FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS
The Mount Prospect Cheerleading Club will be collecting donations for the Mount Prospect food Pantry at the parade and inside the refreshment tent. This year, we need the following items for our pantry: mashed potato mix, turkey gravy, canned fruit, nuts, olives, cereal and pasta sauce. In addition to holiday foods we are always in need of paper products, diapers in all sizes, napkins, toilet paper, etc. PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to distribute any opened, homemade, or out of date food products of any kind.

Donations to the food pantry can also be dropped off at Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson Street, Human Service Department, 2nd Floor.
