You won’t want to miss Mount Prospect’s Winter Festival Extravaganza weekend,
December 5 - 7, 2008. The weekend begins with the Mount Prospect Historical
Society’s Holiday Housewalk. The tour is scheduled for 3:30 to 9:00 p.m. on
Friday, December 5. Mount Prospect’s Bobby Lane, Lincoln Street and Cleven
Avenue will be featured. Tickets will be available at local businesses and the
MPHS museum. Tickets are $20 per person in advance ($18 for members -- at the
museum only) and $22 on the day of the walk. For more information, please call

On the morning of Saturday December 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, the Mount
Prospect Public Library holds their annual Teddy Bear Walk. Bring your favorite
Teddy Bear and see nationally known story-performer Chris Fascione act out
best-loved stories. We will also sing along with Parents’ Choice Gold Winner
Mark Dvorak as he brings some of your favorite tunes to life. Ted E. Bear will
then lead the march over to the Village Hall to welcome the arrival of Santa and
Mrs. Claus, escorted by our own Mount Prospect Fire Department. The Friends of
the Library sponsor this program. Register by calling 847/253-5675.
Later that day, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., the beautifully decorated
Friendship Park Conservatory is the site for the Mt. Prospect Park District’s
annual Holiday Open House. Enjoy hot cider and cookies, holiday music and
beautiful floral displays of the season. There’ll be crafts for the kiddies, ice
sculptures and an opportunity for great photos with Santa and live reindeer.
Admission is free.
The highlight of the weekend, the Winter Festival Parade steps off the evening
of December 6 at 5:00 p.m. from Lions Park. The parade route will proceed down
Lincoln Street to Emerson Street, Emerson Street to Prospect Avenue, west on
Prospect Avenue, ending at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Pine Street. The
parade will feature live reindeer, marching bands, floats and Santa and Mrs.
Claus. A refreshment tent will be set up at Prospect Avenue and Wille Street and
refreshments will be served after the parade including coffee, hot chocolate,
cookies and more. Choral groups will be stationed along the parade route to add

To cap off the weekend, join the Mount Prospect Community Band as they present
their annual holiday concert on Sunday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity
United Methodist Church, 605 W. Golf Road, Mount Prospect. For further
