Each year the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission honors individuals and organizations that help to make our community a great place in which to live and work. We honor them as Shining Stars and recognize them at a gala Celestial Celebration banquet.

The awards will be presented at Celestial Celebration XVI the annual Village gala, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at Bristol Court. Everyone is invited for an evening of dining, dancing and recognition of a new group of Shining Stars. Tickets are priced at $40, and will be available soon.

Enclosed with this letter is a list and description of the 2009 awards. The awards cover a wide range of interest areas and are designed especially to seek out individuals who do things that often go unnoticed.

Please review the list and the criteria used to determine the winners and submit your
nomination(s) on the Nomination Form provided. A Selection Committee representing a cross section of the Village reviews the nominations and determines the ultimate award winners. The winners are selected the first week in December but are not announced until the night of the banquet.

Nominations must be in writing and received no later than midnight, November 17, 2008.
