Established as a farming community soon after the Great Chicago Fire and
incorporated in 1917, Mount Prospect is currently home to over 56,000
residents. Mount Prospect has matured into a dynamic community of tree-lined
neighborhoods, retail centers both large and small, and architecturally
pleasing light industrial/office complexes.
The Village is a vibrant community located 22 miles from downtown Chicago
and just minutes from both O’Hare International Airport and Palwaukee
Airport, which services many corporate and private aircraft. You’ll find a
full range of available business locations from the Kensington Business Park
and Randhurst Mall to the rebuilt downtown, southern industrial properties
near O’Hare and our entrance to Interstate 90. Mount Prospect commercial
sites include 26 shopping centers found throughout the Village along
Northwest Highway/Route 14, Rand Road/Route 12, and other arterial roads.

When selecting a Mount Prospect location, the new business owner should make
their first contact with the Village through the Department of Community
Development. This department includes three divisions: Building,
Environmental Health and Planning. They are responsible for enforcing the
Village’s Building Codes, Health Regulations, Zoning Ordinance, Sign
Ordinance and Development Code.
